About Me

John T. Murray

I'm interested in how new platforms and media shape our experiences. I co-authored Flash: Building the Interactive Web and Adventure Games: Playing the Outsider. I also co-founded an augmented reality startup that focused on mobile phones similar to Google Cardboard.

My research interests include interactive narratives, reality media authoring environments and experience assessment, while in my spare time I'm a fan of dungeons and dragons and popular media. I've taught in the digital media program at UCF since 2018, including courses in both the web and game tracks.

Current Research

I currently serve as Co-PI on the NSF-funded Virtual Experience Research Accelerator (VERA) project (Grant #2235066), which is developing human-machine systems for conducting human subjects research in extended reality environments.
