This proposal serves as your roadmap for the final VR project. You will outline your creative vision, technical approach, and production plan for a 6-8 minute VR experience that demonstrates your mastery of the tools and techniques learned throughout the course.

Deliverable: Submit a two-page PDF document that comprehensively describes your final project.

6-8 minutes of engaged gameplay

Plan for meaningful player interaction throughout the experience

๐Ÿงฉ Puzzle Integration

Minimum 2 distinct puzzles that:

  • Leverage VR's spatial capabilities
  • Progress in difficulty
  • Connect to your theme

๐ŸŽญ Motion Capture

At least 2 custom animations that you record

Specify how they enhance the experience

๐ŸŽจ Asset Usage

Sourced assets allowed with instructor permission

Must confirm proper licensing for academic use

Choose any genre that suits your vision:

Puzzle, Adventure, Horror, Educational, Artistic/Experimental, etc.

Your 2-page PDF must include ALL of the following sections:

  1. Project Title & Tagline: Creative title and one-sentence hook that captures the essence
  2. Concept Overview: 2-3 sentences describing the core experience and what makes it unique
  3. Genre & Platform: Your chosen genre and development platform with clear justification
  4. Gameplay Loop: Player objectives, core mechanics, and progression structure
  5. Puzzle Descriptions: Detailed explanation of your 2+ puzzles and how they utilize VR
  6. Motion Capture Plan: Which animations you'll use and how they enhance the experience
  7. Visual Style: Art direction, mood, atmosphere, and aesthetic choices
  8. Technical Scope: Key features, systems needed, and anticipated challenges
  9. Asset List: Breakdown of custom vs. sourced assets with licensing notes
  10. Production Timeline: Weekly milestones from proposal approval to final presentation

  • Consider Comfort: Plan for player comfort with appropriate movement and interaction design
  • Test Early: Include time for playtesting and iteration in your production timeline
  • Be Specific: Vague descriptions will lose pointsโ€”be concrete about your plans
  • Visual Aids: Include concept sketches or reference images if they help (keep to 1 page total)

  • Submit Via: Canvas assignment submission
  • Due Date: Monday, October 20, 2025 at 11:59 PM
  • Late Policy: -10% per day (5 points per day)

  • This proposal is binding - significant changes after submission require instructor approval
  • Start planning motion capture sessions early - studio time is limited
  • Projects missing required mocap animations will lose significant points
  • Peer testing in Week 14 is mandatory for full credit
